English Primary School Chess Association championships
Cambridgeshire teams are ready to go! We are very excited about playing in the EPSCA team events this year. The U11 Girls Championship is on Saturday 16th April, the U9 EPSCA Zonal takes place on Saturday 12th March, and the U11 EPSCA Zonal is scheduled for Saturday 19th March.

Cambridge Junior Chess Challenge for Girls is great success
The Cambridge Junior Chess Challenge for Girls took place on November 8, 2015. in Sidney Sussex College Cambridge with 36 participants. Fireworks, multiple queens, surprising stalemates and elusive checkmates were all on board and everybody had a good time playing the royal game.

Cambridge Junior Chess Challenge for Girls
First time ever!!! The Cambridge Junior Chess Challenge for Girls is taking place on November 8, 2015. in Sidney Sussex College Cambridge. Only girls under 18 may attend. Sections are divided up by age depending on number of participants. Click here for more information.
London Junior Chess Classic qualifiers
You may wish to play in one of the upcoming Essex Grand Prixs. There is one in Chelmsford on October 10th and another in Basildon on November 15th. Both are qualifiers for the prestigious London Junior Chess Classic. Here are the details for Chelmsford and Basildon.
The Cambridgeshire Rapidplay is a five-round tournament on October 11, 2015. in the Whittlesford Memorial Hall. There is an Open, a Major (under 160 grade) as well as a Challengers (under 120 grade) and a Junior (under 12 and under 80 grade) section. Click here for the entrance form.

The Cambridgeshire Junior Chess 24th Annual Tournament will take place on Sunday 25th January, 2015 from 0945 (Arrival) until 1500 in the Milton Community Centre. Click here for the entrance form.
London Junior Chess Classic
Some good performances from Tough Chess kids in the U10s minor and major London Junior Chess Classic. Julia Volovich was very strong in the U10 major with 4.5 out of 7, and Panagiotis Klotsas also did well with 4 out of 7. Abbey Weersing exceeded 4.5 out of 7 in the U10 minor, so she qualified for the U12 minor. Congratulations! You may wish to look at the U10 Major and U10 Minor cross tables.
U12 and U10 England Girls Championships
On December 7th, as part of the London Chess Classic, two Tough Chess girls participated in the England Girls Championships. Sarah Weersing (11) participated in the U12s and finished 3rd with 3.5 out of 5 points, losing to the champion and number 1 ranked player in England in the final. Her sister, Abbey, (8) participated in the U10s where she finished with a respectable 2 out of 5.
